Take PayPal Payments on Yer Bookin' Calendar

Chasin' an invoice after the session be how ye end up workin' fer free. If ye already use PayPal, a schedulin' app that collects the payment at the moment someone books removes the chase entirely. Here be exactly how it works, includin' the parts most pages leave out.

How she sails

  1. Ye add yer PayPal email address to CalendarPA and set a price on a bookin' type.
  2. A client picks a time on yer bookin' page and goes through PayPal checkout.
  3. PayPal charges 'em and pays yer account directly.
  4. The bookin' be confirmed, the calendar event be crafted, and both o' ye get a confirmation email.

Where the doubloons actually go

Straight to ye. Yer PayPal address be set as the payee on the order itself, so the payment be between yer client and yer PayPal account. CalendarPA never holds the funds and there be no payout delay on our side to wait fer, because there be no payout on our side.

To be precise about fees, because "no cut" and "no fees" be different claims: CalendarPA takes no percentage o' what ye charge. PayPal still charges ye its own transaction fees on the payment, exactly as it would anywhere else, that part be between ye and PayPal.

Connectin' takes an email address

There be no OAuth flow, no merchant application and no waitin' fer approval. Ye enter the PayPal email address ye want paid, type it a second time to confirm, and ye can take payments immediately.

Because it be just an address, it be worth bein' careful: we check that it be a valid email address, not that it belongs to ye or to a PayPal account at all. An address with a typo sends yer clients' doubloons somewhere ye cannot reach. That be why the field be entered twice, check it, and take a test bookin' before ye publish.

What ye can charge fer

Anythin' ye can put on the calendar:

  • A single appointment at a fixed price, matey.
  • A pack o' credits a client buys once and spends on bookin's later.
  • A whole recurrin' series, paid fer in one checkout.

Refunds and scuttlin's

A payment can be refunded in full or in part from the bookin' itself. Because the doubloons went to yer PayPal account rather than to us, the refund comes from yer balance and lands back with yer client through PayPal.

Which plans o' the sea include this

PayPal works on every plan, includin' the free one. The one limit to know: a free account can have a single active payment provider, so ye can run PayPal or Stripe but not both until ye upgrade. Paid plans have no limit. The full breakdown be on the wares page.

Common questions o' the deep

Can I use PayPal with a schedulin' app?

Aye. CalendarPA takes PayPal at the moment someone books, rather than invoicin' afterwards. Ye set a price on a bookin' type, the client pays through PayPal checkout as part o' bookin', and the slot be only confirmed once the payment goes through.

Does the doubloons come to me or to CalendarPA first?

Directly to ye. Yer PayPal address be the payee on the order, so funds move from yer client to yer PayPal account. We never hold 'em, which also means there be nothin' to wait on fer a payout.

What does it cost, matey?

CalendarPA takes no percentage o' yer bookin's. PayPal charges its own transaction fees on each payment, the same as it would on any other PayPal payment, and that be between ye and PayPal.

How do I lash PayPal to me bookin' calendar?

Add yer PayPal email address in yer payment settin's and confirm it by typin' it again. There be no OAuth step and no merchant approval to wait fer, so ye can take a payment straight away.

What if I enter the wrong PayPal email, matey?

The payments go to that address, not to ye. We validate that the address be well formed, but we cannot check that it be yers or that a PayPal account exists fer it, which be why it be entered twice. Take one test bookin' after settin' it up and confirm the doubloons arrive before ye publish the link.

Can I refund a PayPal bookin'?

Aye, in full or in part. The refund be issued against the original payment and comes out o' yer PayPal balance, since that be where the doubloons went.

Be PayPal available on the free plan?

Aye. The limit on the free plan be the number o' payment providers ye can have active at once, which be one, so PayPal on its own be fine, and runnin' PayPal alongside Stripe needs a paid plan.

Give it a try

PayPal be available on the free plan, so ye can rig a paid bookin' type and take a real payment without upgradin' first.
